Work in Bowen
Bowen's largest single industry in 2021 was outdoor vegetable growing (7.2% of working residents), followed by coal mining (4.9%), with labourers the largest occupation group (21.5%). That means plenty of casual, seasonal and roster income, which lenders look at closely: how long you've been in the job, how regular the hours are, and whether the work continues year-round.
Roster income
Base pay is the easy part. Overtime, shift penalties, site and travel allowances, bonuses, labour hire and contracting are where lenders differ, and two lenders can count quite different amounts from the same payslips. Casual and seasonal farm work raises similar questions: lenders usually want to see a steady history before they count it. Our free Mining & FIFO Borrower Pack has a printable document checklist and a plain-English guide to how lenders usually look at each part of your pay.
